Ways to Market your Brand through Pinterest

Hello my darlings! Today I set my digital eyes yet again on the gorgeous ‘Pinterest’, a virtual Pinboard that lets you organize and share all interesting things you find on the web. This pretty Pinboard caught my fancy way back in 2010 (when it was launched). Recently I read that by February 2012, it boasted of 11 million visitors, as per a study by Shareaholic.

Over the years this hot property in the social media world currently which drives more referral traffic than Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn combined, has emerged as a wonderful tool for business too.

Pinterest if used correctly can help marketing your brands effectively. Here’s how:

  • Mark your unique presence
As a brand, the first thing you need to do is identify what makes you ‘unique’ and what qualities of yours connect to the customers. Craft your presence with that in mind. Pinterest is a platform for you to celebrate what your brand stands for.
  • Gifts to sell
Check out the product promotion in the Gift section and you will discover that Pinterest makes promoting and selling your products easier. Just add a price tag to each item you are pinning. Maximize the Gifts feature, by adding the price tag and a (#) hashtag. Include your website link too.
  • Go Visual all the way
Pinterest is a network, perhaps more visual than any other. So use images to the fullest, be it from your website, Facebook page using Pinvolve, or from any other site where the images are compatible (read large) to pin there. Keep pinning, and adding to the visual grandeur there.
  • Ping the other Pinners
Pinterest is not for self-promotion. It is for engaging others. While you pin your images, ideas etc, make sure that you re-pin other people’s content too. This way you open your doors of conversations with other people and become more social.
  • PinIt button
As an e-commerce site, adding a button directly to you website can do wonders for your business. You can benefit even if you are not an e-commerce site, since it is already an established fact that Pinterest can drive large amounts of traffic to brands.
  • Celebrate your fans
The whole visual/ branding experience on Pinterest is wonderful, not only for you, but also for your audience. As a brand you can present your audience with an opportunity to participate. Make custom boards. Let your visitors start pinning as well.

So what is your take on Pinterest? I am not a big Pinterest fan because it has more women power on it, but simply because it is awesome, not just for your eyes, but also for businesses at large.

Till we meet again, I wish all you beautiful people, a lovely time on Pinterest.
